Cape Coral’s finance director resigns

By Staff | Dec 10, 2009

Cape Coral Financial Services Director Mark Mason has submitted his resignation and will leave the city of Cape Coral for another position, officials said Thursday.
Mason’s official last day with Cape Coral will be Jan. 10; however, his last day in the office will be Dec. 31.
“Mark is a valuable member of our management team, and his expertise in municipal finance has been a tremendous asset to Cape Coral,” said interim City Manager Carl Schwing. “I thank him for his service to this community, and wish him nothing but the best in his future position. His experience and knowledge will be missed.”
Mason has been the city’s finance director since June 23, 2003. Before coming to Cape Coral, Mason was the finance director at the city of Sebastian, Fla.
Schwing has appointed the department’s Deputy Director Linda Senne as the interim finance director. Senne has worked for the city’s Financial Services Department since July 2001. Schwing will be evaluating this position and will make a determination on how to proceed in the near future.
