Join SCCF on a kayaking adventure

By Staff | Dec 9, 2009

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF), in cooperation with Captiva Kayak Company, will be offering a naturalist-led kayaking outing in our local estuarine waters.

During the excursion, we will discuss the natural and cultural history of the area as we paddle in the vicinity of Buck Key, a unique island within The Pine Island Sound Aquatic Preserve. Research studies and water quality monitoring by SCCF’s Marine Lab will also be discussed.

The next SCCF kayaking adventure will be on Wednesday, Dec. 16 starting at 10 a.m. These tours will help fund the Conservation Foundation’s Environmental Education program while educating participants about the importance of our Back Bay estuary.

No kayaking experience is necessary for these excursions, just a sense of adventure and a willing spirit. We will be using very stable kayaks and paddling instruction will be provided.

The cost for these outings is $45 per person. Space will be limited, so reservations are required. Reservations and additional information can be obtained by calling SCCF at 472-2329.
