Two dead in car-bus collision

Two Fort Myers men died in a traffic crash this morning after their car collided with a Lee County school bus.
The crash occurred on Buckingham Road, just south of Orange River Road, at approximately 8:25 a.m. after the driver of the northbound car lost control while rounding the curve and veered into the southbound lane, where it was struck by the bus, officials said.
Both occupants of the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has been identified as Elfego Mercado-Quintana, 28, of 5821 Buckingham Road #5 The passenger has been identified as Adrian Nunez-Romero, 30, of 5821 Buckingham Road #2.
Three people, the driver and two school district employees, were on the school bus at the time of the accident. None of them were seriously injured.
The official cause of the accident is still under investigation.
