By Staff | Dec 3, 2009

Dietz & Watson, the number-two deli company in the United States, are working with five fine Dietz & Watson retailers in Southwest Florida – including two on Sanibel Island – and will hold a charity Dietz & Watson hot dog sale on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

When consumers buy a hot dog and a soda, all of the proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

On Sanibel, Dietz & Watson hot dogs and sodas will be sold at Bailey’s General Store (2477 Periwinkle Way) and at Jerry’s of Sanibel (1700 Periwinkle Way). Off-island fundraisers will be held at Mario’s Italian Meat Market (12326 South Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers), The Sandy Butler Gourmet Market (17650 San Carlos Blvd. in Fort Myers Beach) and at Topp’s Supermarket (2555 Estero Blvd. in Fort Myers Beach)

The Southwest Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
