Auction proceeds provide scholarships
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools’ 14th annual Take Stock in Children Scholarship Auction held Nov. 12, brought in more than $40,000 that will be used to purchase scholarships for low-income, at-risk students in the Lee County Public Schools.
“The Holiday Auction is one of our major fundraiser for Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program,” said Marshall T. Bower, Esq., executive director of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools in a prepared statement. “Thank you to all of the businesses and donors who contributed items and services. Last year we were able to award 60 students with full tuition college scholarships through the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program. Did you know that 65 percent of students in Lee County meet the federal guidelines for poverty? Without our support, the majority of these scholars will never acquire a college education. So thank you, once again for making a difference and enabling The Foundation to give the gift for a successful future; a college scholarship.”
Paseo Village Center hosted the Auction. Popular items included vacation rentals, jewelry, themed baskets, and artwork from local artists and high school students.
