‘Welcome Back Sanibel’ offered at The Community House
The Sanibel Community Association presents “Welcome Back Sanibel” at The Community House on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m.
This night will be an open house for members, new members and those interested in joining. A fun family evening as “Life on old Sanibel” used to be, with families, neighbors and friends getting together at the Community House, to square dance, watch a skit, and have dinner. Thanks to the Bailey brothers and Bailey’s General Store for their generosity in sponsoring this special evening.
Sam and Francis Bailey have great memories of life on Sanibel and this evening will recreate the coming together of the community as they did when they were boys every Saturday night. There will be two rounds of square dancing beginning at 6:30 p.m., with Cindy Sitton as the caller. There will be a brief demonstration of a square before the dancing begins.
After the first round of square dancing, there will be a break and the Sanibel Historical Society will put on a short Sanibel skit, written by Jodi Brown, for everyone to sit back and enjoy. Following the skit will be the second round of square dancing to conclude the night. The evening will include an old fashioned Sanibel dinner buffet from 6 to 7 p.m., including Bailey Boys chili, conch chowder, salads, cornbread and fresh squeezed lemonade.
For this evening, you must make reservations by Monday, Dec. 7. This will be a perfect opportunity to become a new member or renew your membership, because new and renewed members are admitted free. Otherwise, adults are $10 and children under 12 are $5.
To become a member or renew your membership and avoid the rush, call the Sanibel Community House at 472-2155 or stop by, at 2173 Periwinkle Way.
