Fishing Club makes donations to CROW, SCCF
The Sanibel Island Fishing Club recently donated $500 to both CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation Of Wildlife) and SCCF (Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation). Earlier in 2009, an additional $500 donation was made to PURRE (People United to Restore or Rivers and Estuaries).
All of these donations help to support issues that are important to the Sanibel Fishing Club – maintaining good water quality as well as the importance of keeping wildlife safe from the dangers of monofilament fishing line entanglements, which are the second leading cause of wildlife injuries in Southwest Florida behind automobile collisions.
The monies used for these donations come chiefly from funds raised at the Club’s annual Christmas banquet held at Doc Ford’s Restaurant every December. In the past, the Sanibel Island Fishing Club has donated to the Girls and Boys Club, the Artificial Reef Association, the Sanibel Sea School and START (Solutions to Avoid Red Tide), to mention but a few benificiaries.
