This weekend, an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course is being offered at the Sanibel Recreation Center, located at 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road.

The class will be taught on Friday, Nov. 20 (4:30 to 8 p.m.), Saturday, Nov. 21 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 22 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

This three-day course in which participants will be trained as Professional Rescuers in lifeguarding, first aid and adult, child and infant CPR / AED use costs $180 for members and $225 for non-members. Registrants will receive a class textbook and itinerary for study. Must be at least 15 years old to register.
