By Staff | Nov 6, 2009

The first annual Stars for Kids Celebrity Waiter Dinner and Auction will be held Nov. 14 to benefit Child Care of Southwest Florida Inc.
The event, which will be held from 6:30-10 p.m. at the Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa, will consist of guests asking celebrity waiters to perform extra duties in exchange for extra tips while they serve various tables.
The evening will include a silent and live auction, with such prizes like a two-night stay at the Sanibel Harbor Resort & Spa; an Orlando get-away package with lodging; restaurants and theme park tickets; and a daylong fishing charter.
Local artist Jan Ellen Atkielski will paint an original acrylic landscape of Florida during the event, which will be part of the live auction.
Celebrity waiters will include Lee County Commissioner Ray Judah, Lee County School Board Member Jeanne Dozier, FOX 4 News anchor Amy Wegmann, Nicole Papageorge of WINK-TV and Jim McLaughlin of Florida Weekly.
“We want everyone to have fun, enjoy a scrumptious meal prepared by the chefs at the Sanibel Harbor Resort & Spa and be generous in their tips to help support our kids,” Beth Lobdell, chief executive officer of Child Care of Southwest Florida Inc., said in a prepared statement.
The waiter who has the most tips at the end of the night will win the 2009 Most Appreciated Celebrity Waiter Award.
Individual tickets are $100 and may be purchased by calling 278-1002 or by visiting: www.ccswfl.org.
The funds raised during the event will be used to provide scholarships for low-income children.
