Richard Miller
Richard Miller, developer of Pointe Santo de Sanibel, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1941, he married at a very young age to Tanya Keller. He built their first home as a teenager. His fascination with building, engineering and architecture parlayed into the development of his company, Richard Miller Homes, building many homes and neighborhood developments in and around the Minneapolis area.
After receiving the Minnesota Reggie Award, an “Oscar” for home building, he then moved on to establish Pointe Santo Development. He developed Pointe Santo de Sanibel, a 141-unit condominium complex on Sanibel Island and Pointe Estero on Fort Myers Beach.He was also a previous owner of the Sundial Beach and Gulf Resort.
Richard was an avid sailor, and loved being by and on the water. He took much time exploring the earth, traveling to many exotic places, as he loved to continually learn and challenge himself.
A brilliant man and master visionary, he is survived by his children Shellene McCagg (formerly of Sanibel) of Denver, Col. and Sara Bauer of Minneapolis, Minn. and five grandchildren.
