Nature photographer Ward to exhibit at CIYC in November

By Staff | Oct 29, 2009

Nature photographer Eleanor Ward will be hanging a solo exhibition entitled “Feathers and Flowers” at the Captiva Island Yacht Club on Nov. 2, available for viewing daily, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., until Nov. 29.

In addition to some new compositions, Ward will be debuting her new line of “Art for Outside Living.”

According to Ward, these new outdoor pieces are made out of sturdy materials designed to withstand heavy rain and sun and feature the photographer’s signature nature shots.

“Two of them are florals and the other five are various settings with the birds from ‘Ding’ Darling,” Ward said.

“The large size exhibit price is $425. The small size 12 x 18 exhibit price $225.00. These prices are ‘special exhibit only prices.’ When the exhibit is over the prices will be higher,” Ward said.

When she’s not staying on Sanibel and Captiva, Ward resides in Georgia. She says she’s looking forward to her time in paradise.

“Like all the others who have a home up north, when my feet hit the floor it’s ‘where do I begin.’ House, yard, art exhibits, venues – take ’em down, put them up, change them out. But in the back of my mind, I’m always thinking of my ‘islands in the sun’ and about when I will be returning and the next event or exhibit on one of those pieces of ‘paradise,'” Ward said, noting that every time she heads off-island over the causeway, she immediately begins looking forward to her next trip back to her beloved “islands in the sun.”

Ward’s “Feathers and Flowers” exhibit, featuring her new outdoor line of work, is open to the public.

“I hope everyone will stop by to see how I have captured the magnificent colors of Sanibel and Captiva,” Ward said.

The Captiva Island Yacht Club is located at 15903 Captiva Drive.

On Sanibel, pieces of Ward’s work are on display at Lily & Co., Art in the Treetops, McT’s Shrimp House & Tavern, Biddle’s Bucket, SanCap One Source Realty. On Captiva, Ward’s pieces hand at Royal Shell (Denise & John Beggs) and Century 21.
