Island Paws to host Howl-O-Ween Party

By Staff | Oct 27, 2009

If you’re looking for an evening of dog-gone good fun, Island Paws may be the place for you and you pup on Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. It’s bound to give a whole new meaning to the phrase, ‘Going to the dogs!’

Owner Liza Crouse has planned a fun-filled event for the entire family, including a silent auction, raffle, yappy hour and a costume contest with prizes given for first and second place small dog as well as first and second place big dog. Goodie bags will be available for all dogs.

There is a $5 entry fee to participate in the costume contest and the proceeds will benefit Dogs Deserve Better, a non-profit organization created in 2002 for the purpose of eliminating cruel practices imposed on these animals.

Food collected will go to Lee County Domestic Animal Services Pet Pantry Program. And if you bring pet food to donate to the food pantry, you will receive a 10 percent discount coupon to Island Paws.

Volunteers from both from Dogs Deserve Better and from Lee County Animal Services will be on hand during the event. Some dogs seeking forever homes will also be available

Doggies, their guardians and friends can mingle and sniff among their fellow Islanders while consuming puptails, yappetizers and (of course) enjoying the

judging of the costumes scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Even if you don’t have a pup, you can still enjoy the fun. To read more about the non-profits, visit www.dogsdeservebetter.org and www.leelostpets.com.
