James Alfred Gough

James Alfred Gough, 86, of Melbourne, Fla. and formally of Sanibel, died on Oct. 10, 2009 quickly and peacefully at his home after battling cancer. He was 86.

Born on Nov. 7, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was the second child of Thomas and Lydia Gough. Jim moved from Sanibel in the late 1980s but had remained in Lee County until moving to Melbourne four years ago with his wife, Georgia.

Jim, his former wife Beryl and their daughter Stacy, moved to Sanibel from Canada in 1973 and became full-time residents in 1976. Jim and Beryl opened Island Printing Centre, which later became known as Island Graphics. After divorcing, Jim met Georgia Wallen. They wed in 1988 and enjoyed their lives together camping, traveling and antiquing all across the U.S. and Canada.

He is survived by his wife Georgia Gough of Melbourne, Fla., his daughters Stacy Goode of Fort Myers, Kim Harrison of Nashville, Tenn., Kristine Britton of Melbourne, Fla., one son Kerry Allen of Manchester, Vt., five grandchildren; Ryan Allen, Elizabeth Allen, Sean Allen, Emma Allen and Coryn Britton, one great grandson, Ryder Allen, his sister Irene Cunningham of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, one niece and nephew and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at the family home in Melbourne, Fla.
