Queenies Pumpkin Pie ice cream on shelves
It’s that time of the year again when the leaves turn and a cool autumn nip chills the skin.
Ok, well maybe not here in Southwest Florida.
But islanders longing for that northerly climate chill and fall feel experience via a local sweet treat.
Queenies Pumpkin Pie ice cream is out for the fall season.
Queenie Viglione, owner of Queenie’s Ice Cream, has just churned up a limited edition of her fall confection.
“It’s just like grandma’s pumpkin pie but without the lousy crust,” she said.
The pint size containers of ice cream will be available at Bailey’s on Sanibel, the Captiva Island Store, Starz Pizza in Fort Myers and Great Licks Ice cream on Matlacha. Recently, Queenie’s Ice cream won Best Ice cream on Pine Island.
A life time of ice cream adoration led to a career into the sweet business 11 years ago. Viglione went to Penn State to learn how to make ice cream through a unique program.
“It’s over a decade of deliciousness,”
Queenie’s will be helping promote a blood drive on Sanibel Bailey’s parking lot, the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, Nov. 27. Anyone who donates a pint of blood will get two pints of ice cream.
And for those looking for their Christmas sweets fix can check out her candy cane ice cream which will be available only during the holiday season.
