An American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course will be taught this weekend at the Sanibel Recreation Center.

The course begins on Friday, Oct. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. and continues on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

During this three-day course, participants will be trained as Professional Rescuers in lifeguarding, first aid and adult, child and infant CPR / AED. Registrants will receive a class textbook and itinerary for study. The cost of the course is $180 for members and $225 for non-members. Participants must be at least 15 years old to register.

Please call the Rec Center at 472-0345 for swimming ability prerequisites. Class size is limited, so register as soon as possible.
