Decorating Den owner named an accredited GREEN leader

By Staff | Sep 30, 2009

Cliff Welles, ASID, owner of Decorating Den design studio, has achieved GREEN Leader AP (Accredited Professional) certification from the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC).

Welles has been a member of the premier organization in green furnishings since its inception. SFC is a non-profit coalition of suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and designers formed to promote sustainable practices in the home furnishings industry.

“This certification provides me with the materials and educational resources to further the cause of sustainable design in our work,” said Welles. “This is our way of promoting ecologically-friendly furnishings for both homes and commercial spaces. Every day, more eco-friendly products are available for the home, usually at no extra cost to our clients, and at far less cost to the planet. We all need to be aware of these opportunities.”

With his partner Judy Underwood, Allied ASID, Welles has served as the Florida Regional Director for Decorating Den Interiors since 1993, with design studios in Sarasota, Bradenton, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs/Estero and Naples, plus Miami, Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Parkland and Boca Raton on the east coast. They will be sharing sustainable design training to each of those studio’s owners, as well as to their own design team in the Bonita Springs and Sanibel Island locations they personally operate.

Originally from the mid-west, Welles and Underwood have been in south Florida for 25 years, and now both reside in Southwest Florida.
