Weather alert issued for islands on Monday

By Staff | Sep 28, 2009

Early Monday afternoon, the City of Sanibel issued the following Weather Alert:

Intense thunderstorms are forming over the northern end of Sanibel and just west of the island. They are slow moving and rainfall rates offshore are showing the potential for up to 3 inches of rain as these storms drag across the island during the next hour or two.

This is part of disturbance in ahead of a cool front that should push through tomorrow. Occasional showers will plague our area this afternoon and they will produce heavy amounts of rain due to their slow movement.
