Baseball players wanted for Florida Tri-County Challenged League

By Staff | Sep 28, 2009

Summer is officially over. However, it’s time once again for baseball registrations for the Florida Tri-County Challenged Athletes Association. Our league is for the player’s age’s 16 years old and older who are physically, mentally and or medically handicapped who want to have fun and play the game of baseball.

Our signups will be held on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 at Hammond Stadium, located off of Six Mile Cypress (Ben C. Pratt) in Fort Myers. Registration will begin promptly at 5 p.m. Please provide a doctor’s note stating you are able to play.

In the past, all registration fees were paid for by donations as is the equipment, team uniforms, special event t-shirts, team pictures and end of season party. Unfortunately this season, we are asking for a $5 registraion fee. If you cannot afford this, please contact Kathy Samson.

Our season runs from January until May. We will play on Saturday afternoons at the Brooks Field, located south of Page Field Airport. Games will be played from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m.

Please realize that we do understand that each players “special needs” may not allow them to attend all the games, but signing up is a commitment not only to your child but to your teammates so please notify your coaches if you will not be able to attend.

Please come check us out, have a hot dog and drink and play a baseball game on the Twins fields with us – we’d love to have you join our growing family of adult baseball players. For more information about our league, please feel to give one of the following board members a call that is located in your area:

Lee and Collier Counties – Kathy Samson, 239-267-2417, or Linda Story, 239-495-3563.

Hope to see you at registrations!
