Faith Presbyterian Church to dedicate new center

By Staff | Sep 19, 2009

The new faith center at Faith Presbyterian Church will host an official dedication of its new building on Tuesday with many city officials, architects, contractors and congregation members in attendance.
Elder and Chair of the Finance Committee Steve Riggs said the new multi-purpose faith center is more than 17,000 square feet. He explained that the planning stages for the new facility began in 2003, with the ground breaking taking place in February 2008.
The new center houses a volleyball and basketball court, a special sports floor allowing individuals to do aerobics and yoga, a banquet room that seats 560 people, a large commercial kitchen, a Sunday school wing with new themed classrooms, a nursery and various offices.
Riggs said he is extremely excited about preparing the new building for use for the congregation as well as an outreach facility for the community.
“We are now in the process of executing our plans,” he said about opening the new building.
“As we get used to the facility we will have a lot of events for the community as well,” Riggs said, adding, “We will be using the center and many of our programs will continue to grow.”
He said that Cape Coral really does not have a facility like this, which provides the congregation new opportunities to explore.
“We are trying to fully understand what we can do with the new building, so we can set a positive environment for the community as a whole,” Riggs said.
He also explained that their current sanctuary building also experienced an increase of nearly 3,000 square feet.
“We had to expand our seating capacity,” he said about the new sanctuary, stating that it will provide individuals with the opportunity to come and worship with them.
He said it was critical to add additional space due to the increase of seating capacity for the congregation of all ages.
The seating capacity increased to approximately 1,200 seats, which Riggs said will allow them to have more individuals attend various events within the congregation.
The official ribbon cutting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m., with the dedication immediately following inside the new facility at 5:30 p.m.
Riggs said a dinner will be held providing them with the opportunity to use their brand new, state-of-the art commercial kitchen at 6 p.m. The music director of Faith Presbyterian Church will host an organ concert following the dinner.
“The combination of our campus expansion project is an exciting time because it will let everyone know that we are ready to move forward,” Riggs said about the ribbon cutting.
