Summer Slam fishing tournament returns to FMB

By Staff | Aug 26, 2009

The 11th Annual Summer Slam is coming to The Pink Shell Resort in Fort Myers Beach on Sept. 11-13 with a two-day tournament and one day of fishing.

Much like its sister tournament – The Caloosa Catch and Release – the object is to hook onto snook, redfish and snapper, plus a mystery fish.

The event, which will include an unlimited number of anglers, will be the last chance to qualify for the Caloosa Grand Championship. The Summer Slam is televised on The World Fishing Network

Wade fishing will be allowed.

The tournament weekend begins on Friday, Sept. 11, with check-in at 3 p.m. and an open bar. Complimentary Land Shark Lager will be offered at all functions. You can purchase Great XX Anniversary Caloosa limited edition shirts for the Summer Slam and special Lazy Flamingo Summer Slam hats

Lunch will be provided by Good Soup and Culligan Water is available for all teams.

Two great dinners with the Captain’s Meeting are being sponsored by The Pink Shell Resort.

Each team will be spotlighted at the two-hour weigh-in event from 3 to 5 p.m.

There will be $10,000 guaranteed and $12,000 for the Hooter’s Redfish Bonanza (based on 40 paid entries of $300 each). There will be no entries sent by mail, so visit the Web site at www.caloosacatchandrelease.com and click on the Summer Slam logo for all information and an entry form.

Hotel reservations at The Pink Shell Resort must be made early. Check the Web site for updates and, if you have any questions, call either Ron Riley at 239-671-9347 or Kristi Riley at 239-850-1707.
