Michael D. Anderson
Michael David Anderson passed away on Aug. 21 on Sanibel Island. He was 53.
Anderson spent his childhood and early adult years in Michigan and moved in 1986 to Florida where he lived in Fort Myers, and the past five years on Sanibel Island.
Devoted to his “home team” the Detroit Tigers, Michael was an avid baseball fan and he coached Little League baseball and softball for 20 years in Southwest Florida. More recently, he enjoyed playing on the Sanibel “old man” league and umpiring week-night softball.
Michael is survived by his wife Roslyn Anderson; children Andrea (Randal) Gerber, Eric Anderson, and Paige Anderson; grandson Lucien Gerber; parents Dave and Lee Anderson; siblings Debby (Ozzie) Seffern, Pat Claus, Mark Anderson, Jeff (Paula) Anderson, and Tommy Anderson; and six nieces and nephews.
Michael earned a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and worked 21 years in Lee County schools. He always was proud of his own children’s educational accomplishments. His oldest daughter, Andrea, has received a Master’s degree but his youngest children, Eric 17, and Paige, 15, still have their educational achievements ahead of them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund for Eric and Paige Anderson at Bank of the Islands, 1699 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957.
Services will be held at Kaul Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores, Mich. on Aug. 30. He will be interred in the waters off Blue Point, Canada, where he spent many happy summers in his family’s cottage.
