Warrant issued for Cape man who allegedly attacked doctor
Detectives with the Cape Coral Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit have issued a warrant for the arrest of Gregory S. Powell.
The warrant charges Powell, 45, with the aggravated battery of Dr. Paul Arnold, who is over the age of 65.
According to a report from the CCPD, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a disturbance at Arnold’s office at 856 Cape Coral Parkway E.
The investigation revealed that Powell was a patient of Arnold and he was upset about not receiving prescription medication. When Arnold turned his back, Powell viciously attacked him, the report states.
Hearing the scuffle, office personnel rushed into the room and had to pull Powell off of Arnold. The report indicates that during the attack, Powell bit the top of Arnold’s finger off including the nail.
The finger tip was recovered by police at the scene.
Arnold was transported to the Emergency Room at Cape Coral Hospital.
