Norm Zeigler’s Fly, Bait and Tackle Shop will offer a free fly casting clinic this Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Instruction will be provided by Norm and Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting instructor Joe Mahler, president of the Sanibel Fly Fishers Club.

Beginners and advanced fly fishers alike are encouraged to come learn new techniques and improve their skills. Participants should bring their own equipment if they have it, but extra rods will be available for those who do not have their own.

Zeigler’s shop, located at 2242 Periwinkle Way, Unit 1, is an authorized Sage rod dealer and also features Redington, Umpqua, Rio, Simms, Wapsi and other top-quality products, including angling apparel, flies and sundries. The shop also carries spinning gear and bait.

Norm’s also books guided fishing charters – from boat or shore – for fly, spin and conventional fishing. Individual casting instruction is also available.

Zeigler is a journalist, author and outdoor writer who moved with his family to Sanibel 15 years ago after working as journalist in Europe for 15 years. He grew up on Cape Cod, Ma.
