Sanibel Ball Field Complex to close for turf parasite treatment
The Sanibel Ball Field Complex, located at 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, will be closed to the public – weather permitting – on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17 and 18, for treatment of nematodes.
Plant parasitic nematodes reduce the root system’s ability to utilize nutrients and water, thereby inhibiting turf growth. After treatment, improvement in the turf quality should be seen within 21 days. The treated areas are recommended for closure for a minimum of 24 hours after the anti-parasite application.
This process was approved by the City of Sanibel Natural Resources Department.
