Republican Women to discuss political reporting at monthly luncheon

“Politics – Front and Center” will be the topic discussed by News-Press political reporter Betty Parker at the Tuesday, May 19 luncheon meeting of the Fort Myers Republican Women’s Club.

Parker is scheduled to discuss the 2009 Florida legislative session as well as potential candidates and issues expected for the 2010 election. She will also discuss how editors prioritize events and activities for inclusion in the newspaper. Her appearance was rescheduled from February. A question-and-answer session will follow her formal presentation.

The public is invited to attend the monthly luncheon and the program being held in The Helm Club in The Landings, located in South Fort Myers. A social hour begins at 11:30 a.m. The noon lunch and business meeting will be followed by the speaker’s remarks.

The cost for the luncheon is $16 per person. Reservations are required by Thursday, May 14 and may be made by contacting Tina Laurie at 239-489-4701.
