‘Phalaenopsis Culture’ to be discussed at Orchid Society meeting
“Phalaenopsis Culture” will be the topic of the Monday, May 18 meeting of the Sanibel-Captiva Orchid Society. This will be the Society’s last meeting of the year until October.
Joe Hayden, from Sun Bulb in Arcadia will present the topic starting at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, located at 2304 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel.
Orchid novices are encouraged to come to the meeting at 1 p.m. to hear members of the San-Cap Orchid Society discuss “Summer Care of Orchids.” Participants are encouraged to come early to purchase orchids or to do so during intermission. Anyone with questions or an “ill orchid” that needs diagnosis can bring their plants to the meeting during Show-and-Tell. Orchid Society members are invited to participate in a monthly show. Ribbons are awarded for best Hybrid and best Species Orchids. Members and guests are also invited to participate in a monthly orchid raffle. Society membership is $20 annually while guests may attend the meeting for a fee of $4.
