Fun Days at Sanibel Rec is a ‘super’ good time!

By Staff | Apr 9, 2009

Villains beware! There is a new team of junior superheroes working hard and having fun as they save the planet at the Sanibel Recreation Center.

On March 27, the City of Sanibel’s Recreation Department held another non-school Fun Day program with a comic superhero theme. The activities included inventing their own unique character, making a costume and participating in a series of superhero training scenarios. One such event included an obstacle course created by staff incorporating a variety of heroic challenges using athletic equipment like balls, mats, hoops and a little imagination.

Between activities, real life heroes joined the program to teach the kids about the importance of dental hygiene. Dr. Jack Price, DDS, alias Captain Fluoride for the day, and his “sidekick,” sister-in-law Mrs. Moon Price, a trained dental hygienist, gave a special seminar on how to properly care for your teeth. The super cavity-fighting session included tips on everything from eating right to proper brushing techniques.

Fun Days are available at the Sanibel Recreation Center during non-school days and most holidays. Upcoming Fun Days featuring pool and park activities will be held on Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14.
