CIYC installs first female commodore

By Staff | Apr 9, 2009

On March 21, the Captiva Island Yacht Club broke with 25 years of tradition and installed their first female member – Jeri Magg – as Commodore.

A 10-year member of the club, Commodore Magg has volunteered and chaired many committees as well as served as a member of the Board of Directors.

With membership at the CIYC now more than 450, the new Commodore hopes to expand the club’s activities as well as broaden its community outreach program.

“Captiva Island Yacht Club is a place for members, boaters and non-boaters, to network with new friends, share excellent cuisine and become part of a family,” said Magg. “It’s also important that members share their various expertises with the community.”

With a variety of social, cruise and community projects coming up, the new Commodore is preparing for a very busy year.

The Captiva Island Yacht Club is located at 15903 Captiva Drive. To learn more about the CIYC, call 472-9627 or visit www.captivaislandyachtclub.com.
