Live up to the image

To the editor,

As a Sanibel resident who enjoys walking my dog on both the beach and the shared use path, I am compelled to write about the large amount of dog feces which I encounter each day.

It seems to me that the correct, common sense – not to mention courteous – thing to do is to clean up after your pet. Special small bags for this purpose are carried wherever pet supplies are sold. Another option is to recycle those plastic produce or grocery bags.

The City of Sanibel Code is quite clear in requiring cleanup – just check Chapter 10, Article III, Section 10-67.

Come on, people! If Sanibel is billed as a pristine, world class resort dependent on tourist dollars, let’s try to live up to the image.
