Tofu is tasty, versatile
To the editor,
If PETA’s tongue-in-cheek proposal to make CloFu – tofu flavored with the sweat from George Clooney’s gym towel – doesn’t sound appetizing to you, we’re not surprised. Although many people consider Mr. Clooney to be a “dish,” most of us probably don’t want to eat a dish flavored with his sweat.
But, now that we’ve gotten you thinking about eating economical, nutritious soy foods, we’re sure you can stomach some savory barbecue tofu, chocolate tofu pudding pie, Kung Pao tofu or stir-fried tofu with vegetables in ginger sauce. Tofu is a healthy alternative to animal products since its cholesterol-free and low in saturated fat.
Tofu is a tasty, versatile food. It acts like a sponge, soaking up the flavors of whatever ingredients it’s prepared with – whether it’s sweat from a sexy celebrity, melted dark chocolate or fragrant spices and vegetables. It can be used in everything from veggie burgers to cheesecakes. For recipes and cooking tips, see www.VegCooking.com. The delicious meals may even make some people swoon as much as Mr. Clooney does.
