Firefighters say thank you

By Staff | Mar 18, 2009

To the editor,

It is with much appreciation that the firefighters of Sanibel Fire & Rescue District say thank you to the community.

Over the past weekend – March 13, 14 and 15 – the firefighters were collecting donations for Jerry’s Kids, Muscular Dystrophy Association. With the help of the community, they were able to raise $2,812 for the charity.

The firefighters spent several hours each day collecting donations at Bailey’s General Store and Jerry’s Supermarket. They also had help from several local eateries: Biddles Bucket, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Sanibel Cafe, Timbers, Island Cow, Lazy Flamingo, Doc Ford’s and Schnapper’s Hots. All of the money raised will help local efforts for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The firefighters of Sanibel would like to thank all of those that donated and also those that helped in the effort.
