By Staff | Mar 4, 2009

Last week, the Fort Myers Miracle announced the addition of Zach Spears as the club’s radio broadcaster.

Spears will provide play-by-play for all 140 Miracle broadcasts. Most recently, Spears served as play-by-play announcer for the Santa Barbara (Ca.) Foresters. He also created a fan site that featured video podcasts, blog entries and live streaming. The Hoopeston, Ill. native received a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University (Ill.).

“We are excited to have Zach join us for the 2009 season,” said Miracle General Manager Steve Gliner. “Zach is going to bring a new dynamic to our broadcasts that we haven’t experienced in the past.”

Spears was selected after a national search and replaces Sean Fox, who left to pursue other interests.

“It’s a great honor to be joining the Miracle. I am extremely excited to begin and be part of such a professional organization from top-to-bottom,” said Spears.

The 2009 Miracle season begins on Thursday, April 9 at Charlotte. Opening night at Hammond Stadium is Friday, April 10 at 7:05 p.m. A spectacular fireworks show will follow.
