Biddle’s Bucket does leap frog over Bailey’s Baggers, 27-22

By Staff | Feb 26, 2009

The Game of the Week in the Sanibel Softball League was Thursday night’s Biddle’s Bucket squaring off against Bailey’s Baggers.

Biddle’s had one special item they wanted to cross off their “Bucket” list -defeat Bailey’s. But Bailey’s Baggers had a secret plan to make sure that wouldn’t happen. The exact details of this plan are hitherto unknown, but it is believed to involve infiltrating players, untying shoelaces, greasing balls, a shopping cart and a blow torch.

The so-called plot ultimately failed as Biddle’s Bucket crumpled up the Baggers, tossing them in the trash can with some last-inning heroics, 27-22.

In other games last week, The Dirtbaggers weed-whacked The Dunes, 13-8; Doc Ford’s Wrecking Crew swung the demolition ball into The Sundial, 19-2; and The Great White Grill tossed All Island Glass on the fryer, winning 19-3.

Wednesday’s games will include Doc Ford’s at the Great White Grill, an old and heated rivalry, and Bailey’s Baggers at Sanctuary Island Electric.

Thursday’s first game will be The Dunes at Biddle’s Bucket. After that game, All Island Glass and The Sundial will battle it out to determine who gets their first win of the season and who stays in last place.

When asked about the upcoming game, Tracey from The Sundial squad said, “We’re going to kick their Glass!”

The Sanibel Adult Softball League plays every Wednesday and Thursday night at the Sanibel Ball Fields. For more information, contact the Sanibel Recreation Center at 472-0345.
