Police investigating double homicide

Fort Myers police are investigating a double homicide that left two men dead of gunshot wounds early this morning.
Police responding to a call of gunshots fired at 2721 Elmwood Avenue at 3:26 a.m. found one man dead and another critically injured.
Kems Fortune, 25, of 2513 Hunter Street, had succumbed to his injuries before police arrived. The second victim, John Mathurin, 26, of 2159 Virginia Avenue, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.
It is still unclear why the shooting happened and detectives are still investigating., police said.
