Zonta seeking sponsors for 2009’s ‘Peek at the Unique’

By Staff | Jan 15, 2009

In the coming weeks, members of the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva will hit the streets seeking sponsors and advertisers for the 2009 “A Peek at the Unique,” the club’s annual tour of four island homes and their principal means of raising funds to support programs that advance the status of women. This year’s “Peek” event has been set for Saturday, March 14.

Of the almost $70,000 raised during last year’s “Peek,” more than half came in sponsorship dollars.

“This was an extremely generous contribution from the Sanibel business community and other caring individuals,” said 2009 sponsor chair Janice McNeal. “We hope our team can count on similar support for this year’s event.”

The club provides financial grants annually to organizations ranging from Miracles In Action, a Naples-based operation that works with impoverished women in Guatemala, to Partners For Breast Cancer Care, a Fort Myers group that offers free diagnostic services to women without means to pay. In common with all Zonta clubs worldwide, the club also contributes to Zonta International which mounts global initiatives to help women lead healthy, safe and prosperous lives. Grants from last year’s successful “Peek” amounted to nearly $48,000, with an additional $17,000 pledged to Zonta International.

Sponsorships are available in the following categories:

House Sponsor ($2,000) FOUR ONLY: Featuring a prominent sign at one of the four homes on the tour plus recognition in pre-event publicity and advertising; limited to one business per field.

Individual Benefactor ($100-$2,000 or more) UNLIMITED: Acknowledgment in event program.

“Peek Perk” Coupons ($100): Discount coupon of the advertiser’s creation placed in a special gift envelope for all “Peek” attendees.

Program Sponsor ($100-$1,000) LIMITED TO SIZE OF PROGRAM: Various sized ads – color or B/W – in event program; program sponsors may include coupons in “Peek Perks” for $50 more.

The sponsorship agreement may be downloaded from the Web at www.zontasancap.com. For additional information, send an e-mail to Janice McNeal at ZontaPeek@comcast.net.

Tour invitations have been mailed to former “Peekers” and tickets will be available to the general public later this month. The event, which has always been a sell-out, will also include a raffle of high-end items, “A Chance at the Unique,” with tickets at just $10 each or six for $50. “Chance” tickets will be available from any Zontian in mid-January through the day of the “Peek,” and on sale Saturdays and Sundays beginning on Feb. 28 at Bailey’s Shopping Center, Seahorse Shopping Center and near the Over Easy Caf. Send an e-mail to ZontaPeek@comcast.net if you have questions.

The Zonta Club of Sanibel/Captiva is a service organization of professional women working together to provide hands-on assistance, advocacy and funds to strengthen women’s lives on the islands, in Lee County and around the world through Zonta International.
