Five injured in crash at Skyline and Pine Island Road

A two-vehicle collision at Skyline Boulevard and Pine Island Road this evening sent five people to the hospital, one with serious injuries.
A van that was northbound on Skyline struck a vehicle on Pine Island Road, police said, adding at this time investigators believe the driver of the van failed to stop at a stop sign.
A male passenger in the van was unconscious at the scene and was flow to the Lee Memorial Trauma Center, according to Cape Coral Police Sgt. Lisa Barnes. The extent of his injuries is not known by police officials at this time but they are described as life-threatening.
The driver of the car, who police said is three months pregnant, complained of chest pains and also was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the car was alone in her vehicle; there were four people in the van. Injuries to the van’s driver and other two passengers were described as minor.
No other information is available at this time but police said updates would be provided when information becomes available.
