Fast pace wins BMGA tourney

Spurred on by the thought of Dorrell Luce’s annual fish fry, the Beachview Men’s Golf Association zipped through the fastest round of the year during their Dec. 6 tournament.
Despite three bogeys — normally the kiss of death in a scramble — Bill Stell Tom McKenny, Dave Bugby and Al Krause compiled a winning score of 44. A chip-in birdie helped their collective cause.
Helmut Peters, Dick Croce, Jay Allen and Jerry Mader took second place with a 46 while Tony Baldino, Bjorn Olsson and Bill Sadd finished in third, just off the pace with a 46.67.
Earlier in the week, during a Very Modified Point tournament, Peters, Allen and Dick Chocol compiled 147 points to run away from the field. Barry Humphries, Mark Ryan, Mader and Gholi Dareshori placed second with a 123.
