By Staff | Nov 28, 2008

A transformer at the intersection of Santa Barbara Boulevard and Nicholas Parkway blew Friday evening, resulting in a fire that damaged the traffic signal at the intersection, officials said in a statement released shortly after 9 p.m. LCEC fixed the transformer, however the traffic signal is going to take about 16-18 hours to bring back online.
Temporary portable stop signs have been placed at the intersection in all directions. Police officers are in the vicinity as well.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the intersection. The signal should be operational sometime on Saturday, officials said.
