Applicants vie for mayor spot

By Staff | Nov 17, 2008

Cape Coral City Council members have interviewed applicants to replace Eric Feichthaler, who will resign later today.

There are 24 applicants, including three council members, applying for the job. They each had three minutes to make a presentation to the council, and council members had the option of asking questions after the presentation was over. If Councilmembers Dolores Bertolini, Bill Deile and Jim Burch are appointed to be mayor, the council will then have to appoint someone to fill their seat on the dais.

At 4:30 p.m., council members began deliberations, and eventually voting, on the mayoral seat. Council members will hear public input, however, before their deliberations. Originally there was no time for public input on the agenda, but councilmembers voted unanimously to include it.
