MudBugs raises funds for children's hospital

June 3, 2020

Owners Ron and Sue Rice reported that MudBugs Cajun Kitchen on Sanibel recently raised and donated $25,000 to the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida as part of a fundraiser. As a result of COVID-19, SanCap Cares had to postpone its 20th Annual Island Celebration until the fall. For the past 20 years, the event has benefitted the youth hospital, and this year's effort aims to support the Pediatric Neurosurgery Unit. In a show of support for SanCap Cares and the hospital, MudBugs committed to donating 50 percent of its daily carry-out food sales while restaurants remained closed to business due to the virus. The couple thanked the community for its support during the fundraiser.
