Her financial career spanned over 20 years, including serving as a branch operations manager for Morgan Stanley and Legg Mason Wood Walker. Gibson also worked for Sungard Data Systems as its conversion support leader.

She moved to Captiva in 1991 and has given back to the community by serving on boards and committees. Gibson is currently a board director of the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum. She has been board secretary of the Captiva Island Yacht Club and a Captiva Island Fire Control District commissioner.

Education Center earns designation

The School District of Lee County has been able to save $124 million in health care costs over the last five years because of a commitment to employee wellness.

The Blue Zones Project took notice and has just designated the Lee County Public Education Center a Blue Zones Project Approved Worksite. The Blue Zones Project is a community-wide wellbeing improvement initiative to help make healthier choices easier for everyone around Southwest Florida.

Through the Active Lee Employee Wellness Department, district employees have access to health programs, support resources, exercise classes and wellness coaching to empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices. Active Lee tracks the results of the classes and has seen significant improvement in reversing diabetes, reducing high cholesterol, lowering blood pressure and cutting the number of pain medication prescriptions.

District personnel will soon begin working with school administrators to help them earn the Blue Zone Project Approved Worksite designation for their campuses.
