Refuge welcomes YCC student

Youth Conservation Corps student Logan Hayford recently reported for work at the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel.

The Island Coast High School student will work full time over the summer assisting maintenance and administration.

The YCC program targets young men and women, ages 15 through 18, to provide them with a valuable work-earn-learn experience.

Sailing For Generations Contest

The Offshore Sailing School, which has a location at the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva, is holding a contest for a chance to win a $500 gift certificate toward one of its Florida courses.

Entrants are asked to write a 100-word essay and submit it with a photo showing a minimum of two generations of their family sailing together. Explain what it means to create sailing memories together.

Steve and Doris Colgate will choose the winning entry.

Entries must be submitted before July 26.

The winner will be announced live on Aug. 1 on Offshore Sailing School's Facebook page.

Banks, Chandler join SanCap Community Bank

Darci Banks has joined Sanibel Captiva Community Bank as a teller at the McGregor Boulevard location, while Dominique Chandler has joined the bank as a human resources administrative assistant at the College Parkway operations center.

Banks will be responsible for assisting customers with personal and business banking transactions.

She has more than 25 years of customer service experience working in the banking industry. Banks has held positions as a teller and customer service representative at several financial institutions.

Prior to joining the bank, she was a member service advisor at a local credit union.

Chandler is responsible for preparing payroll transactions, maintaining human resource records and assisting in employee benefits administration.

In addition to human resources, she has experience in the retail, banking and customer service industries.

Prior to joining the bank, Chandler was a personnel and asset coordinator for a local construction company.
