Birds of a Feather Paint Together Workshop

Join the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and Sanibel-Captiva Art League from 1 to 4 p.m. for an art-meets-science workshop at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. SCCF shorebird biologist Audrey Albrecht will talk about the anatomy of birds and observation skills that will help while studying birds for artistic purposes. Using Albrecht’s tips, SCAL member and artist Marion Hall will lead participants in creating a watercolor painting of a royal tern. Participants should bring their favorite watercolor paints, brushes and paper; watercolor notecards will be available as part of the class materials. Registration is required. Caloosahatchee Oxbow Cruise

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation will host a Caloosahatchee Oxbow Cruise from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The guided trip provides an opportunity to gain a perspective on the river, its history, folklore, issues and solutions as you explore the historic upriver Caloosahatchee. Follow it back to a time when a waterfall served as the headwaters of the Caloosahatchee and settlers braved living amongst the wilderness.
