Experience Virtual Reality

Apollo 11 VR will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The 10-20 minute VR experience is a recreation of the events, which took place from July 16-24, 1969. Registration is required due to the length of the experience. Turtle Tracks

Learn about the life cycles and habits of the sea turtles and shorebirds that nest on Sanibel beaches, SCCF's monitoring activities and what it is doing to protect them from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel. 'Ding' Darling Days: Let's Get Outside Day

Part of its 30th annual "Ding" Darling Days, the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge will host Let's Get Outside Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1 Wildlife Drive, Sanibel. Cosponsored by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge and Tarpon Bay Explorers, the day will feature free admission to the Wildlife Drive for cyclists and hikers, along with other free and discounted tours and eco-activities. Shell Point Farmers Market

Shell Point Retirement Community will host a Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Center Court at The Woodlands, at 15101 Shell Point Blvd., Fort Myers. 'Ding' Darling Days: Conservation Art Day

Part of its 30th annual "Ding" Darling Days, the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge will host Conservation Art Day from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1 Wildlife Drive, Sanibel. Cosponsored by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge and Tarpon Bay Explorers, the day will feature Federal Duck Stamp and Junior Duck Stamp winners, other artists, cartooning, and nature art activities and workshops for a day devoted to Jay Norwood Darling's legacy as the first duck stamp artist and Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist. International Coastal Cleanup

The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum and Keep Lee County Beautiful will host the annual International Coastal Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sanibel Causeway Islands, at 19931 Sanibel Causeway Road. Participants will meet on Island B, the one closest to Sanibel. Organizers will record the amount and number of each type of trash collected, which the Ocean Conservancy will use to calculate the most common types of trash on local beaches. Trash bags, gloves, data collection cards and a water bottle re-fill station will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, bug spray and sunscreen. Housing Ceremony

Sanibel Fire and Rescue District will hold a traditional Housing Ceremony for its new ladder truck from 10 a.m. to noon at Station 171, 2351 Palm Ridge Road, Sanibel. In addition to the ceremony, there will be tours of the new apparatus and fire station, along with photo opportunities with the new truck. Light refreshments will be provided. Bagging for Tips

Let's Pink Out volunteers will be bagging groceries for tips from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bailey's General Store, at 2477 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. The proceeds will benefit uninsured individuals in need of mammograms and F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva to help with cancer-related needs. To volunteer to bag, visit www.PinkOutSanibel.com. BYOB Event

Coastal Keepers will hold a BYOB event starting at noon at Bailey's General Store, at 2477 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Partnering up with Bailey's, Coastal Keepers will distribute reusable, washable canvas bags for free to the community, while supplies last. Additional BYOB events are being planned. Sanibel Island Farmers Market

The Sanibel Island Farmers Market will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sanibel City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road. Organized by Local Roots, it will feature a mix of vendors and products, plus crafters. Find organic produce, exotic fruits, cheeses, breads and bagels, fresh eggs, guacamole and salsa, jams, local honey, pickles and seafood, as well as handmade soaps, essential oils, flowers and plants. 'Ding' Darling Days: Family Fun Day

Part of its 30th annual "Ding" Darling Days, the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge will host Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1 Wildlife Drive, Sanibel. Cosponsored by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge and Tarpon Bay Explorers, the day will feature all-free refuge tram tours, live wildlife presentations, archery clinics, hot dogs, live music and children's nature crafts. New this year, the Cool Kids Zone will provide activities like puppet shows, story and crafts, DIY nature crafts, face-painting and a selfie photo station in the Visitor & Education Center.
