Keep pressure on politicians

September 6, 2018
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

To the editor:

Thank you for printing in the Aug. 22, 2018, issue of the Island Reporter my recent letter questioning whether Vice President Mike Pence would use whatever influence he has to help ease the ongoing environmental plague caused by rampant algae.

Just after it was published, I read that over 600 tons of dead sea life had been removed from Sanibel. Six hundred tons! Has anyone further up the political food chain asked how our waters will regenerate this loss? Will it ever happen or will we find ourselves in the middle of a new dead sea?

Let's keep the pressure on our politicians!
