Bogner beats out Ayers for Democratic state House nomination

One of two candidates who were vying for the Florida House of Representatives District 76 seat is moving forward to represent the Democratic Party following the Aug. 28 primary election.

David Bogner garnered 68.49 percent - 5,221 votes - of the total number cast by Democratic voters, beating out his opponent Neilson Croll Ayers. Ayers earned 31.51 percent of the total - 2,402 votes.

A total of 7,623 votes were cast by party voters in the District 76 race.

Bogner will move on to face incumbent Republican Ray Rodrigues in the Nov. 6 general election.

Rodrigues was election to the seat in 2012 and was subsequently re-elected.

District 76 covers areas of Lee County, including Sanibel, Captiva, Pine Island and Fort Myers Beach.
