Wine & Wealth

Wine & Wealth, a free financial discussion and wine tasting, will be held May 3 at 6 p.m. Cedar Capital's Chief Investment Officer Neil Peplinski and Financial Advisor Thomas Koleski will discuss an innovative approach to investing and offer advice on how to potentially maximize one's retirement. In addition, attendees will taste four Italian wines from the Tuscany region and learn from a local wine enthusiast, as well as enjoy appetizers. Space is limited; RSVP at or 312-285-5737.

Foodies and Yogis

As part of the Foodies and Yogis series, Dr. Susan Pataky and Resident Chef Jarred Harris will host "Dandelion, Down Dog-Deep Cleanse" on May 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Each segment features a healing herb or spice, along with information on its medicinal uses and applications in the kitchen. The program includes a one-hour beginner-friendly yoga session with Pataky, followed by a meal by Harris. Cost is $49. Register at least 72 hours in advance at or 239-472-2155.

Young Chef's Cooking Class

For children ages 8 and up, create healthy meals from a different country from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The May 7 class will focus on Thailand with summer rolls, thai chicken salad, pineapple, coconut fudge and more. Cost is $35. Registration required at or 239-472-2155.

Mudra: The Art of Hand Yoga

Dr. Susan Pataky will host a one-hour presentation on yoga mudras on May 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. Participants will be seated in chairs while working on breathing skills and specialty techniques. Bring a notepad or journal. Cost is $22. To register, call 239-472-2155.

Baking Series

French baker Andre Gratesol will teach the first session in a four-part progressive series focused on baking on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first class is on puff pastry and pate a choux. Cost is $50 per session or $175 for the series. Advance registration required at or 239-472-2155.

Hands-on Cooking Class

Chef Jarred Harris will teach a hands-on cooking class on "Simply Vegetarian" on May 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. The menu will include: vegetable spaghetti with sweet potato pumpkin, peanut stew topped with coconut bacon, and citrus ginger and coconut crme brulee. Cost is $40 per person. Chef Jarred Cooking Demo

Resident Chef Jarred Harris will teach healthy Asian cooking techniques on May 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. Demonstration to include: shrimp and vegetable summer rolls and spicy peanut sauce, simple pho noodle soup and roasted bananas, and coconut and honey custard.
