Hazel E Amon

October 13, 2017
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

A service will be held for Hazel E. Amon, 101, former Sanibel resident at the Sanibel Community House, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 am.

A Sanibel resident for nearly 40 years, she dearly loved the island. With her late husband, Richard "Dee" Amon, they first came to the island in 1959 for a vacation and immediately fell in love with it. Hazel and Dee were long time members of Sanibel Community Church and later Sanibel Congregational Church.

She was a realtor for Pricilla Murphy and Sanibel Realty for many years. She enjoyed being a docent at the Sanibel Historical Museum and was active in many other organizations. If you knew Hazel, you knew of her love for people and her zest for life never missing a day on her bike and a swim in her pool. She also enjoyed her exercise group at the Senior Center and the Wednesday Happy Hour. May her laugh live in our hearts.

Local family are Ron and Leanne Ritchie, Connie Davidson, Deanna Winkleback and family. She also leaves her children; Barbara Amon Chapin, Lauralee Grinnell, Rick Amon, Donna Durst and Mike Amon. She loved 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren and her nephew Larry Amon, a Sanibel resident, as well as her niece Shelly Amon. Decessed grandson David Ritchie, great grandson Kevin Davidson, and great granddaughter Addie Seminsky are now with our kind, happy Hazel.
