John “Jack” Weston

John “Jack” Weston passed away on August 8, 2016, in Minneapolis. He was 84. Jack was a fun-loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who enjoyed life to the fullest. His family and dear friends provided him the greatest amount of joy. An Edina resident, Jack graduated from Breck School in 1949. After attending the University of Minnesota he joined the Weston Engraving Co. with his father John J. Weston Sr. Jack took over as President of Weston Engraving in the late fifties and successfully led his company into the first days of digital printing. In the early 1960’s he founded Weston Photo Mechanical Company in Edina, which manufactured printed circuit boards for many government and industrial applications. Jack enjoyed riding horses during his youth. He and his five gaited horse ‘Service Stripes’ earned blue ribbons at the Kansas City Royal and Madison Square Garden as well as many competitions on his home turf.

Jack enjoyed a forty-five year winter residence on Captiva and Sanibel Islands, Florida. He was a member of The Minneapolis Club, The Minikahda Club, The Captiva Island Yacht Club, and The Sanctuary of Sanibel Island. Jack was a boating enthusiast and owned many boats throughout his life in Minnesota and Florida. One of his favorite Florida boats was named “Engraver III”.

Jack was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he always remembered their birthdays and anniversaries. Preceded in death by parents, John and Margery Weston; sisters, Margery (Fred) Lade and Audrey DeLarco. Jack is survived by his former wife Pam Weston and their children, Jack Weston III (Connie), Edina, Marnie Boivin (Dan), Minneapolis, Mollie Reynolds (Bill), Orono, Sheila Nichols (Rich) Minnetonka, nine grandchildren (Julia, Alex, Drew, Teddy, Liza, Lindsay, Michael, Wes and Patrick) and four great grandchildren (Meredith, Ellie, Herbert and Lincoln). Jack was also previously married to Lytha Nicholson of Gainesville, Florida.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon was held at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 17th (Jack’s 85th Birthday!). A private family service was held at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Jones Harrison, 3700 Cedar Lake Avenue, Mpls., MN 55416, or to the donor’s choice.
