Sanibel Library to host fundraising luncheon with bestselling author Chris Bohjalian
The Sanibel Public Library Foundation, Inc., will host a fundraising luncheon with critically-acclaimed author Chris Bohjalian at The Sanctuary on Tuesday, Feb. 18. For $60 per person, Chris Bohjalian fans and all readers interested in an author’s observations on life and writing will enjoy lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation by the author from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Bohjalian has authored 16 books, including nine New York Times bestsellers. His work has been translated into over 25 languages, and three have been made into movies.
His novel, Midwives, was a number one New York Times bestseller, a selection of Oprah’s Book Club, and a New England Booksellers Association Discovery pick.
His latest novel, The Light in the Ruins, debuted as a New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and national Indiebound bestseller. The book is a personal and historical look at a forbidden romance at the end of World War II. His epic novel of the Armenian Genocide, The Sandcastle Girls, is now out in paperback.
Bohjalian’s awards include the ANCA Arts and Letters Award for The Sandcastle Girls, as well as the Saint Mesrob Mashdots Medal, the New England Society Book Award for The Night Strangers; the New England Book Award; a Boston Public Library Literary Light; a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award; and the Anahid Literary Award.
